Refuge A will always welcome you with a smiling face and a friendly atmosphere. The refuge becomes a place where like-minded folk sit and enjoy each others company, after a long trek up or down the mountain. Able to provide for all your basic needs, the refuge is equipped and ready to serve.
The Refuge History
With the refuge nearly ninety years old, there is a great deal of history, behind this remarkable architectural achievement.
Built to it's present stature over the the years, it has grown to be the focus of Mount Olympus travellers, from all over the world.
1913 ~ 2013: 100 years anniversary
On the 2nd August 1913, Christos Kakalos was the first man to ascend to the summit of Mount Olympus.
He was a guide for the Swiss photographer Frederic Boissonnas, and help lead the party to the summit of Mytikas.

Mount Olympus' routes to the top have two main paths. The main E4 travels through the resting spot of Spilios Agapitos. A 110 bed refuge that stands on a perfect outcrop, overlooking the Enipeas gorge.

Making paths to the top!
There are many paths that criss-cross around the mountain slopes. They have been listed with degrees of difficulties to help you understand the effort required. From Refuge A itself, there are several routes which are listed here.
Always ask the refuge managers about weather conditions and requirements.

How to get here!
The entrance to the Enipeas gorge is located near the village of Litochoro. You will find direction via road, train and from the two main airports in Greece; Athens and Thessaloniki.
